Class blog

I have started a blog for the Introduction to Film class I am teaching this semester. I usually use Blackboard’s discussion board to get students to interact with each other, but I wanted something more public and dynamic in different ways. Here’s how it will work for the class: each student (of 37) is responsible for two posts, one that is assigned by week, and that has to do with the movie we watched in class that week, as well as the reading for the week; and one on a movie they have seen outside of class. They are also responsible for commenting on 5 separate entries throughout the semester. I have gone with blogger, as it is, as Julie says, “idiot-proof” (no offense to my students ). I was surprised that of almost 40 people, only one has a blog, and maybe a few had heard of blogs, so Blogger might have been an appropriate choice. In future, I will probably host it here at erikmarshall.net, but in the meantime, I invite you to check it out and participate at introfilmclass.blogspot.com.
