It’s late, I am wide awake, I have a lot of work to do, but all I want to do is watch movies, read, watch old tv shows. I am writing a section of chapter on networked spectators, so I went over to Netflix to examine the “Community” features, clicked on “Watch Instantly” and discovered that they have a lot of TV shows, old and more recent, like The Office, 30 Rock, Heroes, Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Johnny Socko and His Flying Robot! I haven’t watched any yet, and I will try to resist for tonight, but could this be the arrival of the easily and immediately accessible TV archive we’ve all been secretly yearning for?
